Are you tired of struggling with dull skin and an uneven skin tone? Introducing our Tampa VI Peel treatment by SkinMedica®, a gentle chemical peel that works to exfoliate the skin, brighten, and refine pores with visible results in just one week.
Unlike traditional chemical peels, it infuses skin with vitamins and minerals for a healthy glow as it gently exfoliates the skin surface. This light chemical peel goes a step deeper than our Illuminize Peel, yet it is not as strong as more aggressive chemical peels that require weeks of downtime.
That makes it ideal for normal to sensitive skin types that want noticeable results in just one week. Noel Rucker, our licensed esthetician, will examine your skin and suggest a series of 3-6 peels to help correct your skin concerns.
Our patients at Farrior Facial Plastic Surgery enjoy many benefits from the VI Peel in Tampa:
Our SkinMedica VI Peel is a quick, non-invasive procedure. After cleansing your skin, our licensed esthetician will gently wipe the nutrient-rich VI Peel, combined with a topical numbing solution, all over your face.
It is normal to experience mild, temporary stinging or tingling as the peel goes to work repairing the surface of your skin. The topical numbing solution makes the procedure well tolerated by most patients.
The peel solution should stay on your skin for at least four hours, or overnight if possible. After examining your skin, listening to your cosmetic concerns, and asking about any skin sensitivity issues, Noel will advise you on the approximate time to leave the VI Peel on. The solution is clear, so it is invisible on your skin. You may return to work or daily activities immediately. To remove the peel, simply splash your face with tepid water. If you must wash your face, stick with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Avoid harsh, drying skin treatments and scrubs for now. Follow up with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer. Don’t forget to apply a mineral broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50+) if you must go outdoors.
On Day 2, your skin may feel tight and dry. Peeling usually begins on Day 3-5. By this time, the peel has started to exfoliate dead skin and imperfections. Allow your skin to heal on its own; Never pick or peel the skin. We know it’s hard, but be patient.
Peeling usually continues until Day 5 or 6. Remember, the more your skin peels, the better the VI Peel is working.
Day 7 is the reveal day! Most patients have bright, glowing, even skin by Day 7 or 8. Get ready to show off your gorgeous new skin. Many of our Tampa VI Peel clients report high satisfaction one week after the procedure and have noted an increase in both compliments and confidence.
VI Peel is an excellent choice for patients that want the benefits of a chemical peel without weeks of downtime. You can return to work on Day 1 and 2, but many patients experience mild to moderate peeling on Days 3-5.
If this is your first time getting the peel, schedule the appointment on a Wednesday or Thursday. Mineral makeup easily conceals mild redness, if there is any, on Days 1 and 2. Most peeling occurs on Days 3-5, so this allows you to spend the weekend at home (if needed) without missing work or school.
After receiving the VI Peel Tampa patients have reported that peeling is quite minimal and does not interfere with daily activities. For others, the skin may peel in strips or become dark depending on the peel strength. A rich moisturizer can tame peeling to a degree. It takes about one week to see the final results. If you have a special event coming up, book the peel 7-9 days before the big event. When in doubt, ask our licensed esthetician about the peel strength she will use. Also, be sure to notify Noel of any upcoming events so she can use the appropriate peel strength to get you ready in time.
The VI Peel is considered a light chemical peel. The procedure itself takes just a few minutes. Slight stinging and tingling upon application is normal. That is the peel penetrating your skin in order to repair it. It’s common for skin to feel dry, tight, and tender for 1-2 days following treatment.
Everyone has a different “pain tolerance” — The VI Peel may cause mild, temporary discomfort (tingling, stinging) if you have extremely sensitive skin, but most patients say it is not painful. Remember, the fabulous results are well worth any mild peeling or discomfort that occurs. Our friendly and knowledgeable licensed esthetician will make sure you are comfortable throughout the appointment, especially if this is your first time getting the VI Peel.
Occasionally, patients that get VI Peel for the first time have reported, “My skin isn’t peeling after the VI Peel”. Most patients notice peeling between Days 3-5 after treatment. For others, little to no peeling is visible. Skin peeling is linked to skin sensitivity, how long you left the peel on, pre-existing skin dryness, and the strength of the peel itself.
There are different levels of VI Peel. If this is your first time getting VI Peel in Tampa, Noel may use a lower strength to assess skin sensitivity. Remember, it is better to not peel after getting your first VI Peel than go with a full-strength peel that would be too harsh for your skin. Since 3-6 chemical peels are recommended for the best results, be sure to let Noel know how it went after your first peel. This is important so she can adjust the peel strength to your unique skin type, helping you achieve beautiful and long-lasting VI Peel results that are personalized to your skin.
