Keep your neck looking young and firm
Does your neck give your age away? Many people meticulously care for their
facial skin to ward off the signs of aging--but completely forget about the skin
of the neck.
This delicate
area is particularly prone to wrinkling and sagging. By age 50, many
people, both men and women, have begun to develop "turkey wattle"--a
mass of fatty tissue and wrinkled skin that hangs loosely beneath
the chin. Or, you may have noticed vertical cords on either side of
your neck, or your neck skin may be showing fine lines or discolored
blotches. Fortunately, facial plastic surgery offers a number of options
to minimize these signs of aging.
Facelift for your
neck? Actually, this procedure does more than just rejuvenate the
face. Dr. Farrior combines procedures which smooth the jaw line and
minimize excess neck skin. Designed primarily to benefit the lower
third of the face, a facelift is often the best way to address loose
neck skin, a sagging jaw line and drooping jowls and includes the
special needs of the neck.
If fatty deposits
are present in the neck area, liposuction may be done at the same
time as a facelift or as a separate procedure. Appropriate for men
and women of all ages, liposuction refines the contour of the neck
and jaw line by reducing the number of fat cells under the chin.
Those prominent vertical cords
that may appear in middle age result from weakening and stretching
of the platysmal bands-- the muscles supporting the neck. At no extra
charge, Dr. Farrior tightens and lifts these muscles, whenever he
feels it would benefit the patient and the long term result. Dr. Farrior
performs the platysmal band procedure at the same time as a face lift
or other procedure.
Fine wrinkles
and sun spots in the neck area are more easily prevented than treated.
Cleanse your neck, as well as your face, twice daily and apply a good
moisturizer after each cleansing.
And, don't neglect to apply sunscreen every day.
Our patients have
given us wonderful feedback about our glycolic acid peels, micro dermabrasion
and skin care products and the great results they have gotten in the
neck area. Glycolic acid peels or micro dermabrasion performed on
the neck and chest are very successful in treating sun damaged skin.
